About Accord Legal Review

Accord Legal Review is an independent, U.S.-focused legal information publication. We research areas of American law that ordinary people and business owners actually have to deal with — immigration, divorce, employment, contracts, intellectual property, estates, criminal procedure, real estate, and financial regulation — and we explain them in plain, precise English.

What we are

We are a publisher. Every guide on this site is produced by the Accord Legal Review Editorial Team, an editorial organization that works from primary legal sources: statutes, regulations, court opinions, and official agency guidance from bodies such as USCIS, the Department of Labor, the EEOC, the USPTO, the IRS, and state courts. Where the law varies by state — and in family, criminal, estate, and real-estate law it almost always does — we say so directly instead of pretending one answer fits fifty jurisdictions.

Our name comes from our domain, accordlegalfirm.com, but the word "firm" describes nothing about us. To be unambiguous:

What we are not

• We are not a law firm and do not employ attorneys.
• We do not accept cases, clients, or consultations, and we cannot answer personal legal questions.
• Nothing here is legal advice, and reading this site does not create an attorney–client relationship.
• We have no offices, no case results, and no bar-association recognitions, and we claim none.

When a guide notes that a situation is a good moment to involve a licensed attorney, that is editorial judgment about complexity — not an offer of representation.

How we work

Our method is documented in detail in our editorial standards: primary sources first, dates on volatile facts, clearly labeled hypotheticals, and a public corrections process. When a number is likely to change — a filing fee, a tax threshold, a processing time — we link to the official source that maintains it rather than letting a stale figure sit in the text.
